Newborn

Welcoming a new baby is one of the most special times in your life, and I’d love to help you capture it. My newborn sessions are relaxed, baby-led, and take place in my warm, cosy Torbay home studio. No stiff poses - just beautiful, honest moments you’ll treasure forever.

Choose your session
There are two types of newborn sessions - baby only (weekday) or family newborn (which includes parents and older children).
Sessions are typically 1–2 hours and include time for cuddles, feeds, and settling. I gently guide the session to keep things calm and baby-focused.
Packages start from $495

"I’m SO SO SO in love with my newborn photography shoot. The props/wardrobe and setup are all stunning and she was so accomodating. Jo was calm, patient and got the perfect shots of my little family. I’ve had so many compliments and will cherish these photos forever.."

FAQ
When should I book?
I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to secure a spot in your due month. I only take a limited number of sessions each month to allow for flexibility, since babies rarely arrive exactly on time!

Where do the sessions take place?
Newborn shoots happen in my cozy Torbay home studio, designed with soft natural light and a calm, baby-friendly vibe.

How old should my baby be?
I normally recommend scheduling newborn sessions within the first couple of weeks after birth. During this time, babies are typically very sleepy with fewer awake periods, which makes it easier to capture those beautifully curled-up poses. It also helps us avoid common newborn changes like hormone spots, dry skin, and cluster feeding days that often pop up around weeks 3–4.
That said, there’s no strict rule, and I still photograph newborns up to one month old - whether it’s due to a longer recovery, extended hospital stay, or cultural reasons. I always aim to make the session work for you.
What should we bring to the session?
Just the essentials - nappies, extra milk if you’re not breastfeeding, and a dummy if you’ve introduced one. I’ve got everything else covered, including wraps, blankets, and cosy knitted outfits. If you have a sentimental item, such as a teddy or specially knitted blanket, feel free to bring it along too.
Can we bring grandparents to the session?
Due to limited space, I can only accommodate two adults in the studio. This helps keep the environment calm and comfortable for baby, and ensures there’s plenty of room for me to move around during the session.

Can we have an in-home newborn session instead?
All newborn sessions take place in my home studio, where I can control the lighting, have everything set up and ready, and access all my props and client wardrobe. I’ve found this creates a much more relaxed experience for new parents — no need to worry about tidying up or making space at home. Just arrive, settle in, and let me take care of the rest.
